In this mini blog series, we’re going to help you understand the differences in GAF roofing materials. They not only offer many colors of shingles, but also different lines all with various styles. As a Master Elite™ GAF certified roofer, we’re ready to answer all your questions, even those not covered in today’s blog.
Like most manufacturers, GAF offers two types of shingles; 3-tab and architectural. On a broad level these shingles differ in how they look. Three-tab shingles are quite one dimensional looking. Although there are many colors available, there is only one style. They are made with less product and therefor weigh and cost less. Architectural shingles come in many colors, styles and look more like a shake style roof with dimension.
This is the only remaining line from GAF classified as 3-tab shingles. GAF offers eight colors throughout Tennessee. These high-quality shingles are UL Class A fire rated. They have passed the ASTM’s 110mph and 150mph wind tests so you know they can withstand strong winds that come with our spring and summer storms. They also come with StainGuard® protection so you don’t have to deal with staining and streaking from blue-green algae. Keep in mind that anyone can install these shingles but you’re going to get the best workmanship and warranty from a Master Elite GAF certified roofer.
In part two of this series we’ll cover the various lines of architectural shingles offered by GAF. Because we’re a GAF certified roofer with the Master Elite designation, you can be assured that we have installed every product from GAF per their guidelines, state law and industry best practices.
