However, the best place to start is actually outside your home. Your roofing system and siding could be a leading cause of energy loss. If you haven’t looked at how energy efficient your siding and roofing are, you’re missing out on savings.

Energy Efficient Siding

Your home exterior can be a huge source of heat loss. This is especially true if your home was built more than a decade ago. New building codes require greater energy efficiency throughout the home, including the siding. Although some siding manufacturers include insulation in their products, not all do. However, you can make any brand or material energy efficient siding with a whole home insulative house wrap. Talk to your siding company about their recommendations if you’re replacing your siding.

There are several ways to increase the energy efficiency of your roofing. First is to look at the insulation in your attic.
