Anyone can put a badge on a website. What matters to a homeowner is whether the badge is current, who stands behind it, and what it changes about the work on your house. So for every credential below we link to the page where the granting organization lists us, or where you can look us up. If a link ever shows something different from what we say here, we want to know.
GAF Master Elite residential roofing contractor
What it is: GAF is a roofing manufacturer, and Master Elite is its top certification for residential roofing contractors. GAF grants it, and GAF looks at a contractor's licensing, insurance, reputation and commitment to ongoing training before it does. Keeping it means keeping up with GAF's training, which David describes as classes online, in person, and hands-on sessions at supply houses where GAF sets up mock installations of new materials.
What it means for you: GAF backs our work, and Master Elite status lets us offer GAF's manufacturer warranty programs on qualifying new roofs. Our GAF Master Elite page explains how that works on your roof and how our crews install GAF systems.
How to verify: GAF lists us in its residential contractor directory. Search the directory by your ZIP code and check that the certification shows as current.

GAF GoldElite Commercial contractor
What it is: GoldElite Commercial is GAF's recognition for commercial roofing contractors. GAF lists our Knoxville business as a GoldElite Commercial contractor.
What it means for you: if you own or manage a church, office, shop or other commercial building, it tells you GAF recognizes our crews for commercial systems as well as homes. Our commercial work includes TPO and EPDM roofs, roof coatings and commercial metal.
How to verify: see our GAF commercial contractor profile.
HAAG Certified Inspector for residential roofs
What it is: HAAG is a forensic engineering and research company, and its education arm trains and certifies roof inspectors. David describes it as the certification that grew out of the need to have real, evidence-based discussions with insurance adjusters. We hold the residential certification, and we are working on the commercial certification.
What it means for you: after a storm, a HAAG-trained inspector knows how to tell hail and wind damage from wear and age, and how to document it in a way an adjuster can follow. That matters when a claim is on the line, and it matters just as much when the honest answer is that your roof needs a repair, not a claim.
How to verify: HAAG Education explains the program. Certification belongs to the inspector, so ask us to show the certificate for whoever inspects your roof.

Certified FORTIFIED roof installer
What it is: FORTIFIED is a construction standard developed by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) to help homes stand up to severe weather, and it goes beyond what basic building codes require. A FORTIFIED Roof is built with specific methods and materials meant to keep wind and water out.
What it means for you: if you want a roof built to that standard, you need an installer trained on it. We are a certified FORTIFIED Roof installer, and we can tell you what the standard would involve on your house.
How to verify: learn how the program works at FORTIFIED, and ask us for our installer certification.
BBB Accredited Business, A+ rating
What it is: the Better Business Bureau accredits businesses that agree to its standards for honest advertising, transparency and responding to customer complaints. Accreditation and the letter rating are two different things. Accreditation is a commitment the business makes to BBB. The rating, from A+ to F, is BBB's own grade based on things like complaint history and how complaints were handled.
What it means for you: both of our offices are BBB accredited with an A+ rating, and if something goes wrong, you have a neutral place to raise it.
How to verify: read our Lebanon BBB profile and our Knoxville BBB profile. Each shows the accreditation date, the current rating and any complaints.

Tennessee contractor license 59116
What it is: Tennessee requires a contractor license for larger construction jobs, and the state's Board for Licensing Contractors issues and tracks those licenses. Ours is license 59116. David is also a licensed general contractor, so when a roof job turns up rotten framing or a structural problem, we can fix that too instead of leaving you to find someone else.
How to verify: enter the license number or our business name at the state's license verification site.
"I cross-referenced every roofer on the Tennessee Department of Commerce page to check their license status. This is something I recommend everyone to do before hiring a contractor." That was Dominic, in a Google review of our Knoxville office after Mike repaired his roof in Louisville. We agree with him.
Fully licensed and insured
What it is: beyond the state license, a roofer should carry insurance so that an accident on your property does not become your problem. Mobley Brothers is fully licensed and insured.
How to verify: before any contractor starts work on your home, including us, ask for proof of insurance and check that it is current.
Check any roofer this way
You can run these same checks on every company you are considering. Look up the license, find the manufacturer listing, read the BBB profile and the Google reviews, and ask who backs the warranty. Then ask for photos of what they found on your roof. We are glad to be measured that way. When you are ready, our roof replacement and roof inspection pages explain what happens next, and our insurance claims page covers storm damage and documentation.
